Focus on Value and Innovation
We contend that Management Science must be focused on providing real value to people, organizations, and societies. One measurement of this value is monetary, so each element of our framework must address monetary value. However, there are other value systems that are preeminent to monetary value, including social value, cultural value, personal ethics, and so on. We strongly suggest and strive to ensure that all ACAS frameworks address additional value systems beyond monetary whenever appropriate.
How We Think
1 - We are of the opinion that the field of management is key to the success of all critical endeavors in all fields and all markets.
2 - We believe that management enables productivity, and that it is part of all specializations and people’s responsibilities, at all levels of any endeavor.
3 - We believe that the tools of management need to be based upon repeatable analysis where skilled individuals have tools to reach the same conclusions based upon the same information.
4 - We contend that the broadest reaching innovations can be achieved through wide-ranging applied sciences.
Applied Sciences versus Social Sciences Approach
Our judgment is that most management tools and frameworks treat the Management Sciences as Social and Behavioral Sciences; a science based upon social research, feelings, human psychology, and so on. In these cases many interesting views and tools have been proposed, however almost all of them attempt to provide a circumstance to enable improved context for humanistic interactions instead of tools to decide with some measurement and certainty what the next correct course of management action may be.
The exception to this judgment is the field of Economics, which extends the social science framework using repeatable measurements and deep mathematical analysis. Our contention is that Managerial Economics needs a complementary applied Managerial Science capable of offering innovation forecasting to compliment economic forecasting.
Definition of science
Our thinking concerning science is Aristotelian; science is the organization of a body of reliable knowledge that is logically and rationally structured, that can be applied to observable events and empirical characteristics of our real world to explain and predict repeatable effects and causations.
